The son of dish, Honey cake from Yemen traditionally eated with honey and butter, but made a great base for an egg sandwich for brunch.
Typical lunch would include a lentil-lemon soup, cooked vegetables, a kind of fried rice, hot peppers, Salta,and grilled chicken. One left the table well fed. On special occasions the wonderful “Bint al Sahn” was served as dessert. It is a sweet bread that is dipped into honey and clarified butter.
Mutabbaq, is a stuffed pancake or pan-fried chapati which is commonly found in Saudi Arabia and Yemen, Depending on the location, the name and ingredients can significantly vary. The name mutabbaq (or sometimes mutabbag) in Arabic means “folded”. usually includes mincedmutton, along with garlic, egg and onion, and is eaten with local sauce. Mutabbaq also usually includes mutton in Yemen. It has two versions: a sweet one, and a savory one. Vegetarian mutabbaqs exist too.
